Using A Recliner As A Computer Chair Is Good Idea

A friend bought a cheap recliner because of his strained budget, only to realize that it was totally uncomfortable and unsuitable for use for many hours. He, however, didn’t have any other issue, so he didn’t want to throw it away. The best option, therefore, was to use it as a computer chair!

But is using a recliner as a computer chair a good idea?

The best chair for sitting at a computer all day is one that fully supports the lower and upper back. Based on which model you’re using, recliners could be good or bad for sitting all day. Wheeled recliners can be used as computer chairs, too. You can use a recliner for PC gaming as they boost comfort and eradicates fatigue.

Using A Recliner As A Computer Chair: Wheeled Models

It was shocking to see most people discouraging buyers from ordering recliners to function as luxurious computer chairs. It’s a deception that is making rounds on the internet, sadly!

Here’s the naked truth, the world has changed, and the economy has gone up, too. No one wants to spend too much on a product that they could get at a lower cost.

I mean, why buy two chairs while you can buy a wheeled recliner, for example, Merax Portland Executive Recliner that doubles as a recliner and office chair?

Not necessary!

But why should you use a wheeled recliner as a computer chair?

Reasons Why Using Recliners as Computer Chairs is a Good Idea!

Flexibility: Every wheeled recliner makes mobility a non-strenuous task to do. Also, since these models are often smaller, you don’t use much effort to move around.

Great for Disabled persons: Disabled persons who want to handle office work from their homes can use the wheeled recliners as computer chairs.  So, instead of buying a wheelchair whose primary role is to move, why not buy a wheeled recliner for use as a computer chair, too?

The only help you probably would need is adjusting the recliner’s height when you need to use it as a computer chair.

Comfortable: The most obvious thing that comes into your mind when you read “comfortable” is the ability of the chair to fully support your body weight – thus, keeping you comfy. No, that’s not what I mean. And yes, that’s a part of it, too.

However, what I mean is that you can adjust the height of these wheeled recliners so that your hands can reach the working table without any strain whatsoever.

You can use a recliner such as Dowinx Gaming Recliner for PC gaming or as a computer chair.

With such a recliner, you can type all day or play PC games without experiencing even the slightest fatigue or discomfort.

It’s luxurious: Like is the case with most heavy-usage recliners, wheeled recliners are luxurious in that they soothe your back, and support the neck and the head, too. Besides, the footrest can be retracted. Is that all? Not at all – you can sleep in this recliner if working is too much for you.

Oh, you don’t have to leave your ‘computer chair’ when you want to grab a mail from the end of your desk.

Simply push it to the direction you want to move o and push it back to your working space after that. The wheels make it all possible.

Non-Wheeled Recliners As A Computer Chair? Don’t Try!

As aforementioned, using a recliner when working with your computer isn’t a great idea if it’s not wheeled. Here’s why:

Let’s discuss each of these at length:

Strenuous

When you use a nonwheeled recliner as computer chair,  you’re not able to reach the computer keyboard and mouse comfortably. As such, you’ve to bed to comfortably reach the working table. Working in a strenuous position exceedingly lowers your productivity. Your working hours, on the other hand, become less.

Also, since you’ll be distanced from the computer, your eyes strain to see the screen. The results? Headaches! This will only work for you if you’re long-sited.

An alternative would be to place your computer on your lap and the mouse on the recliner’s armrests to avoid much strain. This only applies if you’re using a laptop. But that, too, causes neck pain when you bend for too long. In some instances, you might experience a headache when you type for more than an hour.

Head and Neck Pain

Computer chairs are higher than recliners. As such, they make it possible to reach the working table comfortably. Recliners, on the other hand, may be too low to make it possible to comfortably type (unless your computer table is low enough).

Due to the low height of recliners, your neck, and head strain while you work. Consequently, you experience pain.

The more you continue using the nonwheeled recliner as desk chair, the more the pain.

Refrained Movement

Non-wheeled recliners are, in most cases, bulky. As such, moving around your computer desk while seated could be such a pain. Therefore, using a non-wheeled recliner as a computer chair isn’t healthy.

Otherwise, you might have to leave your recliner every time you need to get something that is at the far end of your table. Not a good idea!

FAQs

Are recliners good for working on a computer desk?

Yes, recliners are good for working on a computer desk as long as they have wheels and their height can adjust upwards. Such recliners, however, should have a breathing material to keep your body well aerated during long, hot working days.

Parting Shot

What’s my verdict; is using a recliner as a computer chair a good idea? Contrary to what most people say, I believe it’s a great idea. Just be sure to get a wheeled model to ease your movement around the computer table.

But it’s a recliner, not an office chair – so it should also offer uncompromised support to your neck and head.

The height should adjust to allow your arms to rest on the computer table with ease.

Do I have to mention that you should get value for your money by buying a durable wheeled recliner that works as a computer chair, too? Not at all.
