Is Steelcase A Good Brand?

Considering that the company produces high-value chairs, I would not hesitate to say that Steelcase is a good brand.

Their chairs offer excellent comfort to your back, and your butts feel soft on the cushioned seats.

Steelcase Series 2 Review

Steelcase Series 2 Office Chair

Having worked from home for many years, at least 8 hours a day, while sitting on a stool gave me severe backaches. Sometimes I needed a pillow to support my back as I typed. When my search for a good ergonomic chair started, I knew what I wanted.

Bumping on Steelcase series 2 was definitely not a mistake. Here’s why:

Ergonomic Chair

Your long and tiresome search for an ergonomic chair is finally over. Steelcase Series 2 features an upholstered seat. Not only will you have the privilege of fully adjusting the arms, but you can also adjust the pneumatic seat height, seat depth, recline tension, and lumbar.

The chair also features a flexing back that has a mesh to allow good ventilation. With such a back, you don’t have to worry about removing your coat due to sweating. After all, that also comes with lots of discomforts during hot days. What’s more?

The chair offers full support to your back. Consequently, back strains and pains become a thing of the past regardless of how long you sit.

Top-notch Quality

If you’ve been looking for a chair that lasts for years before doing any replacement, then series 2 is your sure bet.

Its quality is top-notch and suitable for busy offices as it can withstand 24/7 usage without compromising the user’s comfort.

Easy to Maintain

Maintenance of this chair is pretty easy, and cleaning takes just a few minutes.

This is because the Connect seat, as well as the back mesh fabric, is made of pure polyester.

Weight-Activated Tilt Mechanism

Did you know that series 2 can as well activate the feel-good hormones? Let me explain. This chair has a weight-activated tilt mechanism, better known as an innovative geometric design. It makes the chair respond instantly to your body movement.

So, when you tilt to feel relaxed and comfortable, you feel good, thus activating the feel-good hormones. In return, the stress associated with the current task (if any) subsides.

Strong Dual Wheels

Steelcase Series 2 Office Chair Side View

Designed to be used on hard floorings, the wheels of this chair won’t break or spoil due to constant movement. It can be wooden, natural stone, ceramic, or porcelain tile floorings; the wheels move just fine.

That’s not to say that you cannot use this chair on carpet flooring or any other type of flooring. Not really; you can always use it on any flooring you wish.

Casters

To increase and improve mobility; the castors are 2 ½ inches. They make mobility on carpets and hard floors possible. Even so, never roll your series 2 chair across asphalt when doing the installation.  If you do, casters get damaged.

To prevent a case where you need to stand without moving the chair; casters have internal breaks. So, whenever you’re not using the chair, the breaks become active.

Well Cushioned Seats

The seat features built-in air pockets. This feature enhances comfort. Why? Your body comfortably conforms to the shape of the seat. Consequently, there’s no pressure on your thighs even when you sit for prolonged hours.

Moreover, the bent edges increase comfort to your body and keep your legs relaxed.

Chair Weight:  36 pounds

Chair Dimensions: 22 x 27 x 42.5 inches

What I Liked

Warranty: The manufacturer claims to give a warranty of 12 years. However, Amazon covers the warranty for the first 30 days as long as you’ve not tampered with the packaging box and the chair.

Easy to Assemble: No prior knowledge is needed; the chair is easy to assemble. Just be sure to fix everything in its rightful place without using unnecessary effort. Otherwise, you might tamper with some parts.

Machine Washable fabrics: Since the seat and mesh fabrics are made of pure polyester, I can comfortably machine wash them. Cool or warm water works well.

Uncompromised Quality: To ensure quality is excellent, BIFMA testing standards recommend approximately 20 tests for the task seating.

Any seat that hits this number or surpasses it is considered a good quality seat. Steelcase exceeds the requirements as it does way more than 80 tests. What’s more? Steelcase does a higher weight capability test.

Price: For its quality, the chair is considerably cheap. I would say. This is because of the adjustment features, quality, and ease of maintenance. Most chairs of this chair’s price range offer fewer features.

Back Shape Naturally Responds to Your Spine Shape: A slight damage of the spine could cost you more money than the chair itself.

In serious cases, you may have to spend your entire life in a wheelchair (God forbid). It’s for this reason I had a keen eye on the shape of the back.

It had to be a chair that corresponds to the spine’s shape to offer comfort and excellent relaxation while working, thanks to Steelcase Series two.

What I didn’t Like

Assembly Required: I have to assemble the chair. Thankfully, it’s not rocket science; anyone can do it! How about installation tools? You ask. You don’t need any tools.

Just follow the given installation guide. It’s straightforward and effortless.

It’s not an orthopedic chair: For anyone who needs a chair that adjusts to specific situations, for example, the strain on the skeletal structure, then this is not a perfect match.

Are Steelcase Chairs Worth It?

Steelcase Series 2 Chair Front View

If you sit for many hours, then the Steelcase chair is worth it. Besides, Steelcase chairs lasts for years. Don’t be surprised; some Steelcase series 2 chairs last for more than 20 years. That’s why Steelcase gives a warranty of 12 years. Who gives such a warranty if their products cannot last that long and even more than that?

So, if you or your staff sit for long hours, then buy chairs from Steelcase. Also, if you have been looking for the best chair for sitting at a computer all day, a Steelcase chair is your perfect choice.

So, are Steelcase chairs overpriced? You get what you pay for. Here’s what I am saying, Steelcase chairs offer unlimited features. Among them is the ability to adjust the lumbar and the arms as well as the height.
