Based on OSHA’s guidelines, a seat pan depth of 15 to 17 inches is enough. However, for the wider people, I would recommend adding a few more inches to those numbers. The most appropriate seat depth needs to leave a two to three-finger gap between the back of the knees and the front edge of the seat.
